pBilly Corgan, Spoon Among Musicians On New Ray Davies Album

Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan, alt-rock group Spoon, and the Pixies' Frank Black are among the collaborators that will appear on a new album being put together by classic rock icon Ray Davies. The Kinks frontman has gathered a star-studded cast of musicians to lend a hand to the LP.

Though the release date and a title are still unconfirmed, a blog post from Pumpkins producer Kerry Brown says that Corgan has teamed up with the Kinks leader to work on a re-do of their classic tune "Destroyer."

Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, and Big Star's late Alex Chilton are also listed as contributors to the album. Davies says he aims to have it out by the end of the year.

pSoufly Announce U.S. Dates

Max Cavalera's famed metal outfit Soulfly has announced a string of U.S. tour dates that will bring them from coast to coast later this year.

Reviews have so far cited the release as "harder, angrier and catchier than its predecessors" according to Revolver. The Alternative Press says that "longtime fans of Cavalera's brand of primitive crunch will love Omen."

pBono Does Tea With Russian Pres

Russian president Dmitry Medvedev sat down with U2 front man Bono for tea last week, as the sunglassed singer prepared for the group's first ever Moscow concert.

During the meeting, Bono and Mendvedev chatted on world issues as well as classic rock, reports suggest. Sources say the president told Bono that, "You are doing important things, because taking care of people is not only a job for politicians."

He also thanked the singer for writing music that "that unites generations."

The Russian president and Bono discussed HIV/AIDS efforts in Africa, and also bridging the gap in classic rock.

"I come here to cross the great divide between me, a Led Zeppelin fan, and you, the Deep Purple fan," Bono told Medvedev.

U2 played Moscow on Wednesday as part of their 360 Tour.
